Paris
In 1990, the city of Paris decided to rehabilitate the Viaduct of the Arts that had remained abandoned since the railway line between Bastille and Vincennes closed. A wide ranging restoration program was initiated around the old railway line. The Viaduct was covered with Pink bricks, and cut stones, and the big vaults have been closed with glass windows held by clear wooden armatures. Since it opened in 1994, the Viaduct is occupied by some 50 craftsmen that work with wood, glass, clay, copper, silver and iron. They also ... sell their works.
You may feel like entering those workshops? It will just cost you a little time, but it is definitly worthwhile to open your eyes to the work of these craftsmen (their trades have sometimes been forgotten for years), or to obtain an original object.
